Restaurants

Hong Kong (Padre Antonio Salelles, 8)

This Chinese restaurant is very good with an extensive menu & very good food & service – they also do an excellent all you can eat buffet on a Friday/Saturday nights & Sunday Lunch/Evening. The restaurant is located near the square on the pasai.

El Lloc (Alcalde Juan Sancho, 6)

This restaurant does pizzas & burgers plus some local dishes. One of the specialities is the shoulder of lamb, this comes highly recommended. The food is very good & the staff are helpful. You can eat outside on the street under a covered awning. The restaurant is located about half way down on the pasai on the right hand side (same side as the Hong Kong).

Tasca Olivense (Calle de Beatrui de Centillas, 5)

Located off the Pasei on the same side the Mercadona supermarket, approximately 2/3 of the way down the Pasei. This Bar Restaurant produces excellent Tapas & Pizzas at a very reasonable price. You can dine inside the Bar or the air-conditioned restaurant at the back or you can dine outside, the staff are very friendly& helpful.

Restaurante La Cassola (Les Fonts, 1)

Located off the Pasei on the same side as & not far from the Mercadona supermarket. This excellent Spanish restaurant comes highly recommended if you like to eat as the Spanish do. The menu del dia is very good & excellent value at 8E including wine. The restaurant is air-conditioned & provides an ideal escape when the weather is hot. You need to know a little Spanish or have a phrase book with you to use this restaurant as the menu is in Spanish & the staff don’t speak much English.

Bar Pelut (Sagrada Familia, 9)

This is a good bar/restaurant with a good variety of dishes including Tapas, the menu del dia is very good value at 9E for three courses plus wine. The owner is friendly & understands some English; the menu is also in English. There are two dining areas, one is air-conditioned, and the other has a conservatory style roof, with sliding panels, which can be opened in hot weather. There is a mixture of English & Spanish customers frequenting this establishment. It is not an easy place to find, head towards the Sant Roc Church, continuing roughly in the same direction until you reach the Gama Gama general store, turn left, go up the street (Santa Pasqual) & bear right up the hill, the Pelut is on the left hand side.

Oli-Ba-Ba (Roger de Lauria, 84, Playa de Oliva)

This restaurant is perhaps one of my favourites, specialising in pizzas (cooked in a traditional wood burning oven), salads & grilled fresh sardines. The building looks pretty dilapidated but it definitely has character. You can either dine inside or outside on the terrace on the beach – brilliant on a nice sunny day. The food is good & the staff are helpful but service can be slow at busy times.

Bar Cafeteria La Plaça (Plaça Sant Roc)

This is the nearest bar to the house & is located in Pretty Square adjacent to the Sant Roc church. The bar has tables & chairs outside in the square. It is a lovely place to sit & enjoy a cool drink or have a snack. Many of the local English residents meet up here.

Bar Amigos (Plaça Sant Roc)

This is a friendly English bar near to the house & is located in Pretty Square adjacent to the Sant Roc church. The bar has tables & chairs outside in the square. It is a lovely place to sit & enjoy a drink or have a snack. The food is very good, the English breakfast comes highly recommended.

Dr. Watsons

This bar/restaurant caters primarily for the English residents/visitors & is located down from the Santa Maria church. There is seating area outside shaded by large parasols. They do a good English breakfast until 1500 hrs including tea & toast.

La Cueva (Calle Purissina 4 – just off the N332 – midway - near the Sol Bank)

This is English owned restaurant offering good quality international dishes. They offer a very good Sunday carvery for 8E if you fancy a Sunday roast. The food is very good with excellent presentation & attention to detail. Highly recommended.

Viva España (Located just outside Oliva on the N332 to Gandia)

This restaurant combines excellent Spanish cuisine with Spanish entertainment & well worth a visit.

Club Nautica (Located at the Marina)

A fantastic location for dining out, the clubhouse has an extensive menu at very reasonable prices including many varieties of Paella (1 hours notice is required for this dish). The food is excellent; I can recommend the Spanish meatballs (Albondigas) & the seafood is to die for. You can eat in the restaurant or outside overlooking the marina or overlooking the swimming pool & sea.

Casa Chelo (Located Mar Mediterraneo, 21 - near Pau Pi Beach)

A good Spanish restaurant with an outside outside seating area producing good a Menu del dia & an extensive a-la-carte menu.

La Canadiense (Located Avda. Mar Mediterraneo, 19. Platja de Oliva - near Pau Pi Beach)

A good restaurant with an outside outside seating area producing good a Menu del dia & an extensive a-la-carte menu & Menu del Noche menu.

Paco Soqueta (Located Gregori Mayans, 1 - near water fountains on the Pasea)

A friendly bar restaurant specialising in Spanish Tapas dishes with an outside seating area.

Bar Eden (Located in the Orange Groves towards the beach - Marjaletes)

A fantastic location in the orange groves with a swimming pool & outside dining areas, producing good food with a daily menu del dia & a-la-carte menu.
